privacy policy.

The plain-English version of what I collect, why I collect it, and what happens to it. No smoke machines. No sneaky stuff. Just the useful bits.

the short version.

If you get in touch through this website, I use your details to reply, talk about the work, and keep sensible records if we end up working together. I do not sell your data. I do not do anything weird with it. I only keep what I need, for as long as I need it.

who I am.

This website is run by Ronnie Stretch. For data protection purposes, Ronnie Stretch is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

The website address is ronniestretch.co.uk. If you need to ask anything about this policy or your personal data, email wotcha@ronniestretch.co.uk.

what I collect.

Most of the personal data on this site comes from you choosing to send it. That might include:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • your company or organisation;
  • what you need help with;
  • timing, budget and project details;
  • anything else you put in the message box or send by email.

The website may also collect basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and the time of your visit. That is the normal website plumbing that helps keep things secure and working properly.

why I use it.

What I use it forLawful basis
Replying to enquiries and having useful project conversations.Legitimate interests, and sometimes taking steps before a contract.
Planning, pricing and delivering work if we decide to work together.Contract.
Keeping invoices, records and admin in order.Legal obligation and legitimate interests.
Keeping the website secure and fixing technical issues.Legitimate interests.
Optional analytics or marketing cookies, if they are added later.Consent.

contact forms and email.

If you use the contact form, the information you enter is sent so I can reply to you. Contact Form 7 is used to handle the form on the website. I use the details for the enquiry, not for surprise newsletters, mystery sales funnels, or anything equally annoying.

cookies and similar bits.

Cookies are small files that websites use to remember things or make features work. This site may use essential cookies for WordPress, security, forms or logged-in admin users. Those are the practical ones.

If analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies are added in future, they should only be used with consent where the law requires it. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of a website may get grumpy if essential cookies are blocked.

who I share data with.

I only share personal data where there is a sensible reason to do it. That may include:

  • website hosting, email and technical service providers;
  • professional advisers, such as accountants or legal advisers, if needed;
  • project collaborators, but only when it is needed for the work and only with the relevant context;
  • public authorities or regulators if the law says I have to.

I do not sell your personal data. I also do not buy mailing lists and pretend that is networking.

international transfers.

Some website, email or software providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, it should be covered by appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual terms.

how long I keep it.

  • General enquiries: usually up to 12 months, unless the conversation becomes an active project or there is a good reason to keep it longer.
  • Client and project records: usually up to 6 years, because contracts, accounts and tax records need a paper trail.
  • Technical logs: kept only for as long as needed for security, troubleshooting and hosting operations.
  • Cookie choices: kept for an appropriate period so the site can remember your preference.

your rights.

You have rights over your personal data. Depending on the situation, you can ask to:

  • see what personal data I hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete data where there is no good reason to keep it;
  • restrict or object to certain uses;
  • receive your data in a portable format, where that applies;
  • withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.

To use any of those rights, email wotcha@ronniestretch.co.uk. I may need to check it is really you before sending or changing anything. Annoying, yes. Sensible, also yes.

complaints.

If something does not feel right, please tell me first and I will try to sort it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

security.

I take reasonable steps to keep personal data safe, including using trusted website and email providers, sensible access controls and not keeping data for longer than needed. No website can promise perfect security, but I do not treat personal data casually.

children, sensitive data and automated decisions.

This website is not aimed at children. Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely needed for the conversation. I do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects.

changes to this policy.

I may update this page when the website, tools or legal requirements change. If the changes are important, I will make them clear rather than hiding them in tiny text and hoping nobody notices.
